 Soprano

Praised for her “brilliant and powerful” voice, lyric soprano Kirsty McLean made her solo debut at  the Royal Opera House in Janáček’s Jenůfa as Jana, conducted by Jakub Hrůša in Claus Guth’s  Olivier Award-winning production. Her appearances for The Royal Opera also include Il Trovatore,  Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and A Quiet Place, and covering Markéta in Kaija Saariaho’s  Innocence. Recent and upcoming engagements include Governess The Turn of the Screw for  Cumbria Opera Group, covering in Du Yun’s Angel’s Bone for English National Opera, Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana, and Micaëla in Carmen

A Britten Pears, Wigmore Hall, and former Leeds Lieder Young Artist, Kirsty is also recognised for  her versatility across opera and classical crossover, performing internationally in both operatic and  contemporary repertoire. She made her solo Barbican debut with the London Soundtrack Festival  Orchestra in Jack Halama’s score for Rivals.
